Food Shelf (HCFS) 

HCFS is pleased to announce the continuation of the Food 4 Kids Program (F4K) during 2026 summer. Extra food for students will be available directly at the Hayward Community Food Shelf. There is NO COST to the parent or child for this program.
Here are the details: 

Who is eligible? Every child who attends Hayward public schools, LCO schools, Northern Lights Christian Academy, Northern Waters Environmental Charter School or St. Francis Mission School or home schooled through one of these schools is eligible. 

When is food available? Each child can receive food 3 times during the summer; once in June, once in July and once in August.  Where will the food be distributed? A parent/guardian can pick up the food directly from the HCFS during our regular hours of operation. Arrangements can be made for someone else to pick up the food, if necessary. HCFS is located at 16216W Hwy 63S right next to Ramer Small Engine. HCFS is open every Monday and the first Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please note HCFS is closed July 4, 2026.

How can a child be registered? A parent/guardian must complete and return the bottom of this sheet to the child’s school by May 22nd to reserve a spot in the program. This form is available through the schools and their websites and Facebook pages as well as at the Shelf, its website and Facebook page.   Late enrollment forms may be submitted directly to HCFS.   One sheet per child, please. 
 
Does the entire family have to register with HCFS for the child to receive this extra food? No, but we will ask for the parent's and child’s name and email address or telephone number. This information is required for auditing purposes and will be held strictly confidential. Families who have not previously registered with HCFS and want to receive food also may do so at the same time a child is registered.
